2 Corinthians 5:19, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Without any pride or arrogance, God made all of creation for His own glory. We have woefully failed to live up to our created purpose. Too much in this world is unattractive and unGodly. While knowing all of this ahead of time, God still created man who would eventually fail His created purpose. Why? Because the glory of God is born from a repentant man of sorrow.

How is that even possible? How can man’s most hideous failures – genocides, false testimonies, crimes and injustices of every kind, ever reflect well on the God of all? In our most extreme guilt, we can find God in His mercy. We can find love and forgiveness when all around have given up on us. With God the power of forgiveness is manifested in our healing. Mercy is exemplified in a cross-bearing Savior.

It seems that all of creation was designed to witness God’s glory through man’s failures. God is truly the God of reconciliation and grace. The Son-rise of our world highlights the mercies of a loving Father. God’s mercy is most evident when He is reaching down to us in a mercy only seen through the sacrifice of His only Son.

Man is out of step with God if we can’t find redemption and reconciliation as offered by God. God refuses to hold the sins of faithful man against him because He refused to hold those same sins against the innocent sacrifice – Jesus. What we should have suffered He bore. That is the definition of a loving savior. That is our road to redemption. It is the only path to our salvation.

Our mission becomes the exposition of the very nature that is God. It is mercy, reconciliation, and love. If you ever wonder about your purpose look no further than the one who died for us all. Let it be your mission. Let it be your life!

Godspeed on your journey…
